Hi guys, I'm a bit flat out at the moment but I will start a new GB thread with more information on the Torque Box roll bar variants and specifications late this afternoon or this evening. As Les and Jaron have mentioned, we're in the process of getting competitive pricing for the supply of the materials for the manufacture of the Torque Box roll bars. Prior to advising the GB pricing I do need to talk further with Les and our other interstate distributors regarding the logistics of this group buy. I'm hoping to have it sorted over the next couple of weeks.

On a side note, as of today MX-5 Plus have joined the above Gold Class Forum Sponsors.

Still the single hoop for me also.. Maybe we need to start a new thread (titled correctly) and get a list of names together with the type of MX5Plus bar they would like.

Revised Single Hoop Torque Box Roll Bar

The single hoop TB roll bar design has been revised to further minimise obstruction of rear vision without impacting it's fitment under both hard and soft tops. Here are some images of the revised design. It will be available with this group buy.

Technical Specifications

Strength of Roll Bar Structure
* The TB roll bar harness mounts meet the strength requirements of ADR 5.
* The TB roll bars use CAMS specification tubing – 44.5 mm Seamless tube, 2.5mm wall thickness.
* The TB roll bar mounts exceed the State/NCOP Regulation of 6mm thick mounting plates and a minimum of two M10 8.8 grade high tensile bolts at each mount.

Design and Dimensions
* All TB roll bars fit under the hard top for both NA & NB models.
* All TB roll bars fit under the soft top for both NA & NB models.
* All the TB roll bar mountings are well away from the top of the fuel tank.
* All the TB roll bars allow the seats to slide back fully.
* The single hoop and twin hoop TB roll bars been designed to minimise obstruction of rear vision and provide easy access to rear parcel shelf.
* The TB roll bar harness mounts comply with ADR 5 geometry (ie. low rearward strap angle to limit compression of the spine).
* All the TB roll bars and their mountings were designed to stiffen the MX5 monocoque significantly more than traditional round tube roll bars.
* All the TB roll bars provide significant additional side impact protection for the occupants.
* All the TB roll bar mountings avoid using the factory seat belt mountings and use the factory cross brace mounting structure instead.
* The TB roll bar installation components are protected from corrosion by zinc plating.

Installation
* All TB roll bars can be fitted without the need to cut the rear carpet.
* All TB roll bars can be fitted without the need to cut large holes in parcel tray.
* All TB roll bars can be fitted without the need to cut chunks from seat belt tower plastic trim.
* All the mounting nuts are captive for ease of installation.
* All the necessary bolts and brackets are provided.
* Incredible illustrated installation instructions are provided with each roll bar.

Supply agreements with interstate distributors are currently being sorted, with a view to having pricing and delivery time frames in the not too distant future.

Will the Revised Single Hoop bar have visible join lines as illustrated or will it be a slightly curved mod of the existing version? I take it the benefit is be slightly higher at the centre giving better vision in the mirror (as well as extra height = extra clearance). Any other changes we can't see from the illustration?

Any way of refitting the windblocker to the rear of the TB?

I'm guessing it's not easy to transport one of these in an MX (without it being installed of course). Is it possible?

Weights are as follows:

Single Hoop TB Roll Bar - 21.0 kg

Twin Hoop TB Roll Bar - 19.1 kg

Single Hoop TB Roll Bar (Single Diagonal) - 21.5 kg

NB: this includes all the mounting plates and fasteners, not just the bar on its own.
