roshmx5 SP thread

Postby roshmx5 » Sat Apr 08, 2017 5:59 pm

Hi members
My name is Rosh from Tasmania. I have owned Subaru's most of my life and have modified various wrx's and foresters. We still currently own two Subaru's.
We have recently moved from Sydney to Tasmania and checked out the Subaru scene in Tassie. It was a bit different to that of Sydney and we really missed the car clubs and drives we were use too.
One day I decided to pick up the phone and rang a couple of local car clubs up. One of them was the MX5 club. They said we could join them on a drive in our Subaru to check things out. We met the club members and they were so nice to us. Exactly what we were looking for. We followed the club members in a part of their drive and was amazed how these little cars went.
After the drive I said to my wife, I need to take one of these cars for a drive. By chance a NB SE was in a local yard. I pretended to be interested in it and the salesman said I could take it for a drive for an hour or so.
I took it on some twisty roads and could not get the smile off my face.
Next weekend I flew to Sydney and bought Simons NB SP. it was immaculate and he had done some great mods that the SP needed. LSD and SE shocks springs and swaybars.
I said to my wife this is what I want as I will leave it original as it's an SP........
Well that was my intention hahhahahahahha.
I have done some mods since then but all are easily reversible. The reason for this is if I want it back to stock I can as I have kept all parts.
Here is what I have done to date.

T-Piece Mod
Boost Gauge
Volt temp meter
Sun visor delete with blanks to fill in holes
Number plate sticker
Muffler Delete
All chrome badging, hinges petrol lid are now all BLACK
Black wheel nuts
Installed Silicon radiator kit, moved top hose away from intercooler pipe.
Painted washer bottle and coolant overflow tank black.
Blue vacuum hose in places
Blue lids and caps in enginebay.

These are my mods so far and it's a balancing act to try to keep it not to far from original, but enough to make it my own and a bit different.

The smurf blue was too much just finished repainting. It's smooth the photo looks pixelated as it's from my phone in low light. Will take a new photo of engine bay when fitted.

You're adding moisture???

Misting the radiator and oil cooler radiator to improve cooling is a good idea , anything else just increases corrosion and hose-rot.

You're making a very common mistake, "damper" is the word you're looking for (a "dampener" is used to make something wet).

Looking good roshmx5. What did you paint the washer/coolant bottles with?
