You'll want one of these for your front bumper

My mariner blue 90 or 91? had those wheel caps.I bought the car brand new. It is possible the 89 had different ones.....but unlikely.
My current 89 never had the original wheel on it when i bought it.

in 1992 they may have had the enternal flame on it. But that I seriously cant remember. a mate of mine had one.

It makes economical sense for the wheels to be the same in all markets with the only difference being the centre cap. I've got no proof one way or another. Only way to tell would be to compare wheels from a confirmed JDM and Aus car.

The Mazda centre cap is the one I'm after.

Re the bumper sticker, I contacted the business you linked a couple of days ago and they only have the black ones where I need the white one. Still searching...

Believe the centre caps are the only difference - haven't had JDM & ADM NA6 wheels side by side, but have had JDM & ADM NA8 wheels side by side.
They came with Pirelli P6's. Are they any good?
Back in the day the P6 was a great tyre, but that was when the P7 was standard on the Porsche 930 Turbo - these days P6 is RTM.

My old '89 NA6 (#238), also a Victorian car, didn't have the Mazda sticker on the front bumper. It was originally sold by Garry and Warren Smith Mazda in Mulgrave to a staff member. I bought it the following year with only 3k kms on it, so not sure they were all sold with the sticker.

Btw, in case you want to add your NA6 to the NA6 Register:

Interesting. Do you know of other early cars that came without the sticker? Mine is 269. Will add to register.

That's the only reason I can think of, and a common one I imagine. Can't see any evidence of repairs though but I've not had a chance to go over the car yet. I've been on holiday this week.

On the decals, I've read somewhere that they're actually a silver colour rather than white. Can anyone with an original car confirm either way?

it might be a good idea to John a local mx5 club. get some of those details.
or talk to Simone & David at Mx5 mania. Dave & Simone used to be quite involved some time ago.

I recall a qizz they did on some trivia night. the question was how many times is Mazda written on the outside on the original MX5. most of us missed the one on the bumper. this was some time in 1999....

Nah, it was all good - looked very closely for that sort of thing, plus they were selling for the usual reason, ie arrival of baby immanent & the other car was also not suitable (hubby's surfing Holden Kingswood station wagon).

Yeah, have seen others over the years, plus a good mate bought one (also red & bought new in SE Melb) of the original 200 & it didn't have the sticker. Not saying they weren't meant to - just saying they didn't all sell with one for what ever reason. Btw, just checked the pics in the original two book box set that came with a new NA6 in 1989, & none of the pics show an NA6 with the sticker.

Yeah, saw that also: bwob reckons black or silver:

Priority Mazda reckons: light gray on all colors except silver, which had dark gray. Light gray part #: NA04-51-711-14 & dark gray part #: NA04-51-711-18:

Slowly coming together. Got the wheels on today but couldn't get the centre caps on as the wheel nuts are too long. Will pick some up tomorrow.

Looks much better with the Daisy's! Be nice to drop it a touch though. Suspension feels tired so I might get a chance to do that soon.ImageImage

No, I hadn't seen that, thanks. They look pretty good and price is right, if not the colour.

Finally got the car registered in NSW today and then took it to Spinning Wheels for a wheel alignment. As I suspected it sorely needed it. Feels much better now.

The guys at Spinning Wheels are absolute champions. They did a top job on the car, took the time to talk to me about it and even threw in free short wheel nuts all round so that I can fit my centre caps on the Daisy's.

Today's drive featured some classic Skid Row. ImageImage

Haha, yeah man. Dusted off the old collection and started adding to it as well.

If anyone has old tapes they don't want give me a yell, I'll probably give them some air time. :)
